New Study on Controlling Wild Horse Fertility Launched – 5/13/11

HAPPY HORSEA five-year trial is under way in Oklahoma to test a new formulation of the long-term horse contraceptive, PZP. The pasture breeding study will test the effectiveness of two formulations of an investigational contraceptive vaccine to determine if the treatment can reduce foaling rates in wild horse mares.

DR RAMEY notes:  Hopefully, this works.  As romantic as the wild horse is to the psyche of some people, the fact is that their range is overpopulated, and they lack natural predators to keep the herds under control.
